Butter Season

We make our butters by hand in Brooklyn, and we pause them every summer so they never sit in a hot mail truck. When the air turns, they come back.

For generations, West African women have reached for shea when the dry harmattan winds arrive. Butter Season is our version of that tradition, made in Brooklyn for the months when skin needs the seal most.

Choose Your Scent

Cocoa Moringa: Warm cocoa and vanilla tonka over soft woods and amber. Our most rebought scent.

Pink Amber Vanilla: Pink amber and orchid over creamy vanilla, with a whisper of jasmine. Warm, never heavy.

Pink Champagne: Champagne, brandy, winter berry and apricot. Bright and bubbly, never sugary.

Mango Coconut Milk: Juicy mango and goji over creamy coconut milk, pineapple and vanilla bean, grounded by soft musk.

Lavender Vanilla: Lavender softened with creamy vanilla. Balanced, calm, the jar you reach for at night.

Black Jasmine: Our deepest floral. The evening jar.

Mango Papaya: Sun-ripe mango and sweet papaya. Bright, tropical, all year long.

Unscented: All the butter, no added fragrance. Just the soft natural scent of shea and botanical oils. Wear it under anything.

How to Wear It

After the shower: Pat skin almost dry. Scoop a small amount, warm it between your palms, and smooth it over damp skin. The water left on your skin is what the butter seals in.

To layer: Exfoliate with your African net, apply dry oil first for the glow, then the butter on top to seal it. Customers who wear it this way say the scent lasts longer.

For elbows, knees, hands and heels: Go back over the spots that get dry first. For heels, apply before bed and slip on socks.

Questions

Is it greasy?
No. It's rich, but it melts and sinks in rather than sitting on top of your skin. Start with a small amount on damp skin and add more only where you need it.

Why are the butters only available part of the year?
Natural butters soften in summer heat. We pause them in the warm months so every jar arrives the way it left our studio, then bring them back in the fall.

Can I use it with my dry oil?
Yes. Dry oil first, butter on top. The oil gives the glow and the butter seals it in.

Which scent should I start with?
Cocoa Moringa is our most rebought. If you love gourmand scents, start there. If you prefer something softer, try Lavender Vanilla or Unscented.

What if my jar arrives soft or melted?
Pop it in the fridge for 30 minutes and give it a stir. The texture comes right back. If anything arrives damaged, message us and we'll make it right.
